The Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER) is a membership organization created in 1961 to promote excellence in community and economic research by working to improve data availability, enhance data quality, and foster learning about regional economic analytic methods. We accomplish our mission through professional networks, training, advocacy, research, and delivering innovative products and services.

Dr. Kenneth Poole, Ph.D. and Dr. Mark White, Ph.D. gave a great presentation on Sunday, December 3rd during the MAEDC Competitiveness Conference in Chicago. This special training session focused on the myriad socioeconomic and project data needs of prospects. It helped provide a framework for helping participants to examine the information they have and manage it effectively for prospects.

Designing an Index of Your Innovation Economy

This training session recently held on November 8th at USF in Tampa, Florida reviewed basic principles for developing benchmark indicators that demonstrate how innovative your local or regional economy is and/or can be. Students learned about different data sets and weighting systems to develop their own index as part of a strategy for promoting 'innovation' as an element in their regional or statewide economic development efforts.
